Hi all, is anyone else struggling with all the horrible things going on in the world? I know I am struggle-bussing for real. It's hard to even get on social media without being bombarded with all the things going on in the news.
My heart hurts for everyone losing rights and freedoms. For the the heinous atrocities being excused or brushed aside. For victims of crimes being silenced and denied justice. There's so much hatred and hurt in the world.
My mental, emotional, and spiritual health has taken a huge toll on me. Sometimes I cannot breathe with all the angst and anxiety gripping me every single day. It feels like I'm drowning some days.
If you feel this way too, please know that you are not alone. I think many of us feel the same way. I've been hiding in my favorite books rereading them to find comfort and safety in the pages of stories that give me hope and happiness. They are the best medicine.
I am sharing my feelings today because I want people to know that it is okay not being okay. Take time for yourself. Turn off the news. Take care of yourself first. Your health matters. You matter. It's okay to say no and it's definitely okay to take a time out and have time for yourself.
I hope you're reading something wonderful, eating something yummy, listening to something that makes you smile, and spending time with people you love.
I've been rereading the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews. The husband and wife writing team really "get" me. I love the characters and the vibrant worlds they create. If you haven't tried any of their books, I highly recommend! They have several sci-fi/fantasy book series available to read or listen to on audio book.
