Review: Neighbor Liar Killer by Katie Reus

Neighbor Liar Killer is the latest thriller from Katie Reus!

About the Book

I heard my sister being murdered over the phone.

It was staged to look like a robbery gone wrong, but in her last moments, she was betrayed by someone she knew. Someone who had access to her home. Now her three girls are going to grow up without a mom, and I’ve lost the only person who’s ever been there for me.

And I’m going to find her killer.

Someone in my sister’s exclusive neighborhood killed her. The police are following their leads and I’m following mine. Unlike the detectives on her case, I don’t have to follow the rules. And the closer I get to discovering who the killer is, the more the danger grows, for me and everyone around me. If I don’t figure out who to trust, and fast, I’ll end up just like my sister.

My Review

Katie Reus enthralls audiences in Neighbor Liar Killer.

I was completely immersed in this chilling suspense that starts right from the beginning!

Sloane is a pilot on a flightpath when her sister Cara calls. They’re talking and then someone comes into Cara’s house. Cara acknowledges this person. Cara knows this person. And then she is murdered while on the phone with Sloane! The terror, the grief, the disbelief, the anger, the hurt! Who would do this? Who would murder her beloved sister in broad daylight?

OMG! This book was SO good! I could not put it down! There was so much going on. The story was meticulously layered in mystery, suspense, angst, subterfuge, and soul-gripping grief.

Neighbor Liar Killer is perfect for any mystery reader. I highly recommend it!

Review: All I Want For Christmas Is A Hitman by Katie Reus

‘Tis the season for more holiday shenanigans in the newest Holiday with a Hitman story…

About the Book

She’s just trying to keep her farm running and her llamas out of trouble…

Scout isn’t sure what to do with the stranger who showed up on her farm carrying a bag of cash and weapons—so she orders her llama to knock him out. But when her nasty neighbor shows up trying to cause trouble, he takes over and keeps her safe so she figures she can trust him enough. If only he wasn’t so sexy and distracting…

He’s a hitman looking for redemption…

The last thing Hudson remembers is being on a job. Then he wakes up in a strange bed with a lump on his head, wearing llama pajama pants that are just a little too tight. And oh yeah, there’s an angry-looking llama watching him through an open window. As a lethal hitman, he immediately starts calculating how to get out of his current situation—until the most gorgeous woman he’s ever seen walks through the door. The idea of sticking around suddenly doesn’t seem so bad. And when it’s clear someone wants to hurt her, he decides that they’ll have to go through him—if only he can convince her to trust him. After that, he’s going to convince her to spend forever with him. And that’s going to take a Christmas miracle.

My Review

I absolutely LOVE the Holiday With a Hitman series! I know it sounds scary, but I assure you it’s anything but. The series is slapstick comedy with a bit of mystery, a little suspense, a sprinkle of danger, some steamy chemistry, loads of Christmas cheer, and lots of laughs!

I love Scout and Hudson’s crazy meet-cute where he trespasses on her property, gets knocked out by a llama, and wakes up tied to a bed. Either Hudson is not a very good hitman or llamas are secretly covert operators just waiting to take us all down. I’d like to think it’s the latter 😉

I really enjoyed the fast-paced storyline, the touching moments stolen between Scout and Hudson, and the special guest star appearance from previous characters in the series. Not to worry though, all books can easily be read as standalones.

What really stole the show were Scout’s llamas! They are fun, funny, and SO loveable!

If you’re short on time this holiday season but need a pick-me-up, definitely pick up All I Want For Christmas is a Hitman.

Day 21: How the Hitman Stole Christmas by Katie Reus

Happy Holidays!

Today is Day 21 of my holiday reading recommendations.

This is Book 1 of Katie's Romantic Suspense series, Holiday With a Hitman!

The story is funny, fast-paced and full of steamy passion!

You can't go wrong with a Katie Reus book!

About the Book

Tis the season for a grumpy-sunshine romance with a side of murder and mayhem!

She hates Christmas and everything that goes with it…

Explosives expert Elliana hates Christmas—and the only good thing about this holiday season is that her gorgeous neighbor seems allergic to shirts and clothes in general. She knows because she’s been watching him for months with her drone. She’s never stalked anyone before, but he not only doesn’t seem to mind, he puts on nightly strip shows just for her. When she finally works up the courage to talk to him, she stumbles right into a murder—that he’s committed.

But this holiday is one she’ll never forget…

According to him, the whole murder thing is no big deal—the dead guy needed killing. And while her hot neighbor wants her, protecting her is his main priority. So when she’s targeted, this cinnamon roll hitman kidnaps her for her own good. With a deadly threat hunting them and a hot hitman who keeps handcuffing her to him “for her own protection”, Elliana is starting to reconsider her grinchy stance on the holidays. And when everything finally comes to a head, the results are bound to be…explosive.

My Review

How the Hitman Stole Christmas is funny, steamy, inappropriately appropriate and loads of fun! The characters are loveable, the dialogue had me constantly laughing out loud, and the chemistry between Elliana and Theo is explosive!

You wouldn’t think a hitman would be able to steal Christmas-and my heart-but you’d be totally wrong! I absolutely loved it! And to find out that it’s gonna be a series?!?!?! I cannot WAIT for the next book!

Day 15: Mistletoe Me, Baby by Katie Reus

Happy Holidays!

Today is Day 15 of my holiday reading recommendations.

Second book of the day is Mistletoe Me, Baby by Katie Reus

This is Book #4 in Katie's O'Conner Family series and can easily be read as a standalone!

About the Book

She needs a fake fiancé…

With the holidays fast approaching, Miranda Flores makes up a fake fiancé so her well-meaning family will get off her back. She just never expected them to suddenly show up on her doorstep a couple weeks before Christmas, wanting to spend the holidays with her. So she turns to Nolan O’Connor, her sexy best friend, and asks him for the favor of a lifetime: she needs him to act the part of her fiancé until her parents leave town.

He wants forever…

Pretending to be engaged to the woman he’s already fallen for? No problem. Nolan agrees to Miranda’s fake engagement scheme because as far as he’s concerned, she’s the one. But he plays his role too well, because soon the entire town thinks they’re engaged and things get more complicated—especially since he can’t pretend with her anymore. Then tragedy strikes and Miranda tries to shut him out, but Nolan won’t let her. He’ll do whatever it takes to convince her that he wants to make her his forever.

My Review

MISTLETOE ME, BABY has everything you want in a Christmas romance! A strong, stubborn heroine almost too proud to ask for help. A hero that’s fiercely loyal, loving, caring and determined to claim the woman he loves… even when she’s asking him to get out of her life. And a quaint little town in Holly, North Carolina where it’s Christmas all year round as the perfect backdrop for this short-and-sweet love story!

Miranda and Nolan paired beautifully together. Their chemistry was off-the-charts sexy and very steamy. I loved how tender and patient Nolan was, especially when Miranda was pushing him away. He stood strong and never gave up on his love. That’s the kind of love I’m looking for!

You can’t go wrong with MISTLETOE ME, BABY or any of the O’Connor Family books! All of them are full of heart, family and love that will have you coming back for more!

Review: A Very Merry Hitman by Katie Reus

It's Christmas in October

This is the second book in Katie Reus's Holiday With A Hitman series!

These books are novella-sized but packed full of action, suspense, steamy chemistry, and holiday cheer!

Even though this is the second book, it can easily be read as a standalone.

Although I highly recommend both books!

If you'd like to learn more about How The Hitman Stole Christmas (Book 1) you can do so HERE!

About the Book

She’s surrounded by hitmen…

Aileen’s parents, brother and all her neighbors have unconventional jobs to say the least. So she’s surrounded by hitmen. Is it a little strange? Sure, but so is she. And lately she finds herself looking at one of her neighbors in a new light. When the single mom asks him for a teeny tiny favor—to help her after years of being celibate—he shuts down. So she decides to throw herself back out there and start dating again.

And he’s the most intimidating of them all…

Dante has wanted Aileen for as long as he can remember, but because of her past trauma, he’s always considered her off-limits. When two different Santas try to rob her in a matter of days, then all bets are off. Something weird is going on, so he does what any good hitman would do—he takes over her protection detail. He’ll keep her under his roof, in his arms, and hopefully in his bed, while ending any and all threats to her. Too bad her nosy family keeps getting in his way. It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but danger is about to find them all.

My Review

A Very Merry Hitman is a hoot! I love the action, suspense, single mom awkwardness, steamy chemistry, and Christmas hijinks!

Aileen is a single mom to a very smart, rambunctious girl. She has a career, a home, wonderful family, and has just about everything she needs. Well, what she really needs is someone to help dust off the cobwebs and make sure her lady parts still work! And she hopes that someone is Dante, her hot neighbor, family friend, and hitman extraordinaire.

Dante has been gaga over Aileen for years! He’s dumbstruck when Aileen asks him for a little poke and tickle but before he can answer, she runs out and asks him to forget it. Forget it? Never. When Aileen falls victim to Santa trying to rob her–twice–Dante’s protective instincts are in full alpha mode as he works to keep Aileen and her daughter Nessa safe.

As Dante and Aileen spend more time together, the slow burning flame that Dante’s kept for her quickly develops into an all-consuming passion that leaves nothing but embers behind. Dante is definitely not getting coal in his stocking this year 😏

The suspense is thrilling, the romance is combustible, the dialogue is funny, and the story will melt your heart.

I highly recommend the Holiday with a Hitman series and I’ll be asking Santa for more stories in this vibrant, festive book world!

Tempted by Her Neighbor by Katie Reus

Happy Release Day!

Tempted by Her Neighbor is a novella from Katie Reus previously published elsewhere years ago. It has been revised and edited.

About the Book

He thinks his neighbor is out of his league…

Kyran got into a fair amount of trouble as a teenager, but after eight years in the military, he’s left his troublemaking past behind him, built a successful business and put down roots. Unfortunately, the sheriff of his hometown has a long memory. To him, Kyran will always be a loser, no matter how much he’s cleaned up his act.

And now she’s his alibi…

When he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, no one is more surprised than Kyran when prim and proper Lucie Miller provides him with an alibi—one that’s a complete lie. Determined to find out why his sexy next-door neighbor stepped up, he soon finds himself in danger of losing something far more important than his newfound respectability—his heart.

My Review

Novellas are great ways to learn about a new author. And if you’re in a time crunch but need a romance fix, a novella’s got you covered! I have been reading Katie Reus for years so I know she’s already a brilliant writer. I’m always excited to pick up one of her stories.

Tempted By Her Neighbor is a condensed spicy romance with lots of hot-and-heavy action. It’s a fast read with interesting characters and a solid storyline. I wish it were a full-length novel because there were so many situations mentioned that I would have loved to read about. I hope there will be more stories from this fascinating book world.

Reviews: Lover's Instinct & Primal Possession by Katie Reus

Today, I'm sharing a mini review for Lover's Instinct (Moon Shifter #1.5) and full review of Primal Possession (Moon Shifter #2).

The series was previously published by Berkley Romance in 2012 and now Ms. Reus has the rights back and revamped the stories with gorgeous covers!

Lover's Instinct is a fast and furious novella that takes no time at all to read and will satisfy your craving for paranormal romance... or fan the flames for more!

Primal Possession is a full-length novel and focuses on Liam Armstrong, Connor's brother. It's a full service read with danger, intrigue, suspense and surprises.

About the Book

This alpha shifter is ready to stake his claim…

Lupine shifter Nikan Lawless has it bad for Esperanze Cordona, the sweet and curvy female who only views him as a friend. Lately, however, he’s started to see sparks of interest. So when he’s assigned to act as her bodyguard during a weekend education conference, he knows it's the perfect opportunity to seduce her out of the friend zone—away from the prying eyes of their pack.

To put his plan into motion, Nikan cancels one of their hotel rooms. Is it underhanded? Yes. But he’s playing for keeps with this female. When a dangerous man from Esperanze's past shows up in need of help, Nikan must shield her from a group of rogue shifters and convince her that they're destined to be mates. Since she’s a beta and he’s an alpha she’s afraid things will never work between them. But he knows they’re meant to be together and he’ll do what it takes to make her his forever.

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed the novella. The story is fast-paced and the chemistry between Nikan and Esperanto is explosive! I just wished it were longer! I'm looking forward to learning more about the new packmates. Highly recommend this paranormal romance series.

About the Book

He’s found his mate…

As his pack’s second-in-command, Liam Armstrong is used to giving orders and his packmates falling in line. Then he meets a feisty human who has no problem telling him no. And oh yeah, she’s also his mate.

But she’s human.

Bookshop owner December is no stranger to loss—her younger brother was murdered by a shifter years ago. After resettling in the quiet mountain town of Fontana she’s finally made a life for herself, including befriending local shifters. But now she’s been targeted by a human hate group, forcing her to turn to the gorgeous, bossy wolf who’s convinced they’re mates. She thinks the very thought is ridiculous, but if she wants to survive, she’ll have to find a way to trust him. Before it’s too late for both of them.

SECOND EDITION - This updated and revised edition is the author’s preferred text.

My Thoughts

Primal Possession is Book 2 in the Moon Shifter series and is just as exciting as the first book!

Liam Armstrong is the brother of Connor Armstrong, Alpha of the Armstrong-Cordona pack. In Alpha Instinct, Liam meets his mate, December. She’s a beautiful and curvy red-head that owns the local bookstore and sister to Parker, the local sheriff… and 100% human. There are so many red flags here. This whole thing is a disaster waiting to happen. However…  never underestimate the power of a stubborn shifter who’s scented its mate.

December is definitely skittish after she finds out the hunky Scotsman patronizing her bookstore is a shifter, and a wolf at that. But there’s something about him that calls to her. When December falls victim to some wack job hate group, Liam’s protective instincts kick into overdrive. There’s no way December can escape Liam’s presence or his devastating brown eyes with danger lurking at her doorstep. Will Liam wear December down and get her to accept his claim or will she hit the road for good, breaking her heart (and his) in the process?

I really enjoyed the story. I think Liam and December paired well together. I love that she doesn’t let Liam railroad her with his possessiveness. She’s a strong alpha in her own right and the perfect match for Liam.

I also enjoyed the secondary storylines where we get some backstory of some of the packmates and townsfolk. They are equally as exciting!

I can’t wait to read more from the Moon Shifter universe!

Review: Alpha Instinct by Katie Reus

Alpha Instinct is the first book in Katie Reus's Moon Shifter series!
The series was previously published by Berkley Romance in 2012.
Ms. Reus got the rights back so she revamped the stories and gave them a makeover with gorgeous covers!

The Moon Shifter series is a paranormal romance series with mystery/suspense elements. The books are exciting, engaging and delicious to read!

About the Book

He ghosted her years ago…

Ana Cordona has been a strong leader for the lupine shifters who survived after half her pack was murdered. As tough as she is, her pack is vulnerable to a devious neighbor who wants their land—and Ana as his own. So when a ghost from her past barrels back into her life promising protection, it’s almost enough to make Ana forget how he walked out on her before—and reluctantly accept his offer to mate.

Now he’s back.

Connor isn’t walking away again. Ana has always been his mate, something his wolf accepted long ago. And the only reason he left before was for her own protection. Whatever it takes, he’s determined not to leave her side again—but danger is all around them in the form of a rival pack and a radicalized human element in town who wants to destroy all shifters. If they want a chance at a future—and to survive the deadly threats closing in—they’re going to have to learn to trust each other. Unfortunately, the danger is closer than they ever imagined.

Author’s Note: Alpha Instinct was originally published by Berkley in 2012 and the rights have recently reverted back to me. Since then, I’ve done some light editing and rewriting. So if the cover looks new but the title feels familiar, that’s why! I wanted to make sure that those who have read this, didn’t accidentally purchase this again. But for new readers, I hope you enjoy.

SECOND EDITION - This updated and revised edition is the author’s preferred text.

My Thoughts

A Dangerously Good Read!

I really enjoyed reading Alpha Instinct. This book is not just about the second chance romance between Ana and Connor, it’s so much more!

In the Moon Shifter series, the secret’s out that shifters and vampires exist. It’s been a grueling process for the otherworldly creatures and humans to find an equilibrium in which to live peacefully. Discrimination against shifters and vampires is rampant, and the hate groups are vicious in their persecution and extermination of them. What people don’t realize is all the shifters/vampires want is to live in peace, raise their families and live happy lives. A few bad apples give otherworldies a bad name. But not all shifters are bad, just like not all humans are good. Sound familiar?

Okay, back to the story: Ana’s pack is left vulnerable because a sickness has spread through her pack months before killing all the males, pregnant females, including Ana’s dad–the alpha–her mom, and other pack members, leaving Ana the default alpha. Poor girl has to pull herself back together to protect the ones that remain and figure out who poisoned her pack. A grueling task, but she’s the alpha’s daughter, her strength and fierce protectiveness is admiral, and much needed.

As the story begins, Ana finds herself in a deadly situation when she hears a voice she hasn’t heard in a long time: Connor Armstrong, her first love and the man who walked out on her without a word. Connor and his brother Liam are back in town with a pack of warrior wolf shifters. Connor has an offer for Ana: Mate me and you’ll have my pack and my protection. Pretty romantic, right? Chaos definitely ensues.

The story is engaging, entertaining, and deadly. Ana and Connor have good chemistry and I love how strong she is and how she stands up to Connor and his pig-headed, overprotective alphaness. I love that there’s a lot of characters with diverse personalities. I really enjoyed reading about the political climate of the story and the diverse judicial systems humans and shifters/vamps/otherworldies have.

I am a sucker for a paranormal romance and to throw in a second chance romance on top of it while sprinkling in some mystery and suspense? Yes, please!

I can’t wait to start the next book!

Highly recommend it!
